New Android 4.4.2 Update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Now Being Pushed to Sprint Users

If there’s a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 laying somewhere around you, you should pick it up and see whether there’s a new software update waiting for you. Sprint’s support page says that a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Android 4.4.2 update is now being pushed to users.

Because the Galaxy Tab 4 runs Android 4.4.2 out of the box, all the KitKat-specific features such as transparent status bar, white status bar iconography, improved Location menu, immersive mode, cloud printing, full screen album art in the lock screen, or color emoji support have came pre-loaded. The new firmware update is minor and according to the official changelog it “adds Kids Mode application.” Whether you want that app or not, it’s recommended to install the latest update as it also arrives with bug fixes and improved system stability.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Android 4.4.2 update is labeled T237PVPU1ANL1 and it should have a size below 100 MB. Even so, we are recommending you to download it using a Wi-Fi network in order to avoid damaging your data plan.

Of course, the new update is being rolled out in phases, meaning that some of you might have to wait a bit longer before being able to download it. If you can see the system update message in the notifications area, all you need to do is tap on it, choose ‘Download now’, wait until the download is completed, then select ‘Install now’. Your tablet should reboot and install the new firmware. AT&T has released the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA Update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and 10.1 inch tablets. It is not a major upgrade, but it will still add several new features and functions that should make your Android device much more stable.

The new Android 4.4.2 upgrade build is live and it might possibly be the last one with KitKat in its title, as AT&T will most probably start testing the Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware, so that it will be ready for an early 2015 release. Up until Lollipop arrives you should simply confirm the installation of this new Android 4.4.2 UCU1ANK2 build on your tablet.

With Android 4.4.2 UCU1ANK2 you will receive the following new changes: Google Play Store purchases will now be billed on the AT&T Bill for all the postpaid accounts, Kid’s mode is now available using the Galaxy Essential app store. There are no other major changes listed on AT&T’s website, but there are bug fixes and stability improvements added, too.

In case your Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 / Tab 4 10.1 device doesn’t show the new Android 4.4.2 update notification, then you should manually check for new firmware files by going to Settings> General> About Device> Software Update and tap on ‘check for updates’ button. If there are any new Android 4.4.2 firmware files ready for download, then you should simply confirm the process and your tablet will take care of the rest of the updating process automatically.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA Update Rolling Out for Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and 10.1 at Verizon

The official Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA update is rolling out right now for the 10.1 and 8.0 inch variants of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. The update has been pushed earlier by Verizon and you should check the tablet’s Notifications panel to see if there are any new firmware files available for download.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA Update for both Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 features the same firmware versions: VRU2ANK1. The new update is rolling out only for the Verizon variants of these tablets and it comes with the following changes: tablet self activation support, Find My Mobile, Kids Mode Widget, My Verizon 10.0.710 update, Hancom Office with support for reading comments of pdf file, Here & Now widget is no longer present. Besides all these changes you will see that numerous bugs have been fixed; now your tablet should be much more stable than before.

The new Android 4.4.4 update is rolled out by Verizon in phases, so you shouldn’t panic in case the firmware doesn’t arrive today for your device, as the roll out will continue until all the tablets are successfully updated. Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 LTE Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update Live Now from T-Mobile

AT&T Promoting Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and LG G Pad 7.0 LTE [DEAL]

The holiday season is a great time for smartphone sales for manufacturers and carriers. The largest U.S. carrier, AT&T, is gearing up to slug it out with competing carriers during the holiday season and has already come out with some great offers and deals on the hottest new smartphones and tablets.

The new promotions will be available from October 3rd on all smartphones. These include Android, iOS, Windows, and Blackberry handsets. For only $0.99, you can get an LG G Pad 7.0 LTE tablet when you buy a new smartphone from AT&T for $0 down with the AT&T Next plan. The tablet comes with a 7-inch 1280 x 800 resolution IPS display, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM with a microSD card slot, a 5MP rear camera, a 4000mAh battery, and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Customers also have the option to add the G Pad to any existing Mobile Share Value plan for only $10 a month. The G Pad must be purchased on a two-year wireless agreement though, with a qualifying data plan.

AT&T is also offering a deal on Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. It can be bought for only $99.99 when buying a Galaxy smartphone. Samsung has tons of devices in which they send out an update for at least one, every single day. Today, we’re going to look over their current plans and see which devices they are updating this month.

Android 4.4.4

Last week, we talked about Optus, an Australian carrier, and their latest update news for Android 4.4.4 KitKat on the Galaxy S5. They told us that Samsung has approved the final code and they are expecting it to be sent to them very soon. Once Optus has received the code and completed their internal tests, they can start pushing the update out to their customers. Speaking of 4.4.4, we’ve also seen reports that indicate the European Galaxy S5 LTE-A should be receiving the latest version of Android very soon.

Android 4.4.3

As for Android 4.4.3, Rogers (in Canada) is reportedly getting this update ready for a bunch of their Samsung devices. If everything works out, we could see devices like the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3 Mini and the Galaxy Note 8 receiving this Android 4.4.3 update soon. There is no hint as to when this update will be released, though. We will be sure to update you with their progress as soon as we know more.

Android 4.4.2

Even though 4.4.2 isn’t the latest version of Android, this is the version that Samsung is currently sending to most of their devices. This is because of several reasons, but the main reason relates to how long it takes Samsung to complete and send out an update. Just because Google releases Android 4.4.4 KitKat, doesn’t mean Samsung will abandon all the work they have done on the 4.4.2 updates to that point. Whichever devices they are working on at that time will continue to be worked on until they’re released to the carrier/customers.

As of right now, we’re seeing the Galaxy S4 devices in Baltic, France, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, UAE, UK and in South Korea receiving this 4.4.2 update. Also, Galaxy Tab 4 devices in Baltic, France, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, Hong Kong, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago are receiving the 4.4.2 update. Galaxy Note 3 users in Russia, Ukraine, Portugal, Hong Kong, Argentina (Note 3 Neo) and New Zealand are receiving the 4.4.2 update. Lastly, Galaxy Note 2 users in Slovenia, Italy and Portugal are receiving the 4.4.2 update as well.

These are a lot of devices and a lot of various countries around the world. If you don’t see your device or country listed, then rest assured that Samsung is working on it and they should be pushing out an update sometime in the future. Just looking at all those countries and all those devices gives us a little perspective on exactly how hard Samsung works on updates even if it does seem like they’re working slowly.
