The official
Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Update is currently rolling out in Europe for the International
Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F model. Check your phone’s
notification panel starting today and see if there are any new firmware files available
for download.
Android 5.0
Lollipop is being released over-the-air and through Samsung KIES application.
This release comes only weeks after the new operating system were launched with
Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablets. This new update has been spotted in Poland for
now, but Galaxy S5 phone from other Europe countries should also get the new
LRX21T Android 5.0 firmware upgrade starting today. There is no official word
on the upgrade’s worldwide availability, though it shouldn’t take long until we
will see it released in other parts of the world, too.
The Samsung
Galaxy S5 G900F device will feel like a brand new smartphone after you will
complete the installation process of Android 5.0 Lollipop LRX21T update. This
new operating system comes with a brand new Material Design UI, new security
options, device sharing capabilities, full Android runtime (ART) support, new
lockscreen features, improved notifications menu, Screen Pin, new Recent
multi-tasking menu and tons of other great features.
The Android
5.0 Lollipop lock screen of your Galaxy S5 will now be able to display
notifications info that you can interact with and dismiss in case you don’t
want to be disturbed while working. Also, the Notifications screen is now
featuring a “priority” function that permits users to only allow incoming calls
from favorite contacts. The Smart Lock settings can be used to set various safe
locations where your Galaxy S5 will unlock itself automatically without having
the user entering his unlock code.
Hopefully the
Android 5.0 Lollipop OS will get rid once and for all of the ‘lag’ issues that
the Galaxy S5 users have experienced on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS. This
update will hit only the SM – G900F Galaxy S5 models at first and if there are
no major bugs reported, then Samsung will allow the US carriers to roll out the
Android 5.0 firmware on their Galaxy S5 editions, too.
The new
Android 5.0 Lollipop LRX21T OTA Update is sent as FOTA (firmware-over-the-air)
and you simply need to confirm the download and installation process when the
update notification arrives. Make sure to use a Wi-Fi connection in order to
complete the Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 update. In case the new update hasn’t
arrived yet for your Galaxy S5, then you shouldn’t panic as it is being pushed
out in phases at first and Android 5.0 will surely arrive before the end of
this year.
You can check
yourself for new Android 5.0 LRX21T firmware files by going to Settings>
System> About Device> Software Update> Update menu. Confirm the
download if there are any files ready for installation. Also, you can check for
new Galaxy S5 G900F Android 5.0 Update files using the Samsung KIES software
and your computer.
