If you happen
to own a Spring Galaxy S5, then you should keep an eye on the notifications
panel. Even though the folks at Verizon released the same update more
than two months ago, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 update for Sprint
users only stared to roll out today.
As usual, the
Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 update is being pushed to users in phases,
which means that some of you might have to wait longer than others. As you may
already know, once your device becomes eligible to receive the new firmware,
you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications area.
Tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions. If the system update
notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check
under Settings > System update > Update now > OK. Alternatively, you
can grab the USB cable, connect your smartphone to the PC, and then search for
the update via KIES.
Because the
Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4.2 out of the box, it already comes pre-loaded
with all the KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bars,
color emoji support, the new Location menu, immersive mode, white status bar
icons, cloud printing, or full screen album art in the lockscreen. The Android
4.4.4 update is mostly about adding enhanced Google Security, but sprints
also lists International Wi-Fi Calling support and HD Voice Icon among in the
changelog posted on their website. It’s
also worth noting that the new update has build number G900PVPU1ANK4.
Even though
Sprint failed to reveal the size of the new update, expect it to weigh in
around 400 MB. Therefore, we are recommending you to download the update file
using a stable Wi-Fi network in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
