Google has
launched the official Android 5.0 Lollipop Factory Image for the Google Nexus 4
smartphone. This is huge news for N4 owners as they’re now able to install the
latest Android OS version manually before the Lollipop 5.0 OTA Update roll out takes place later next week.
The Android
5.0 Lollipop Factory Image adds the latest OS firmware that was launched by
Google and you can even install it without losing any data files in the process
by modifying the ‘flash-all.bat’ file. You will find more info in the links
provided at the end of this post.
Android 5.0 is the biggest OS updates released for the Google Nexus 4
smartphone, so you should give it a try. It comes with Material Design user
interface, Notifications tweaks, lock screen notifications support, dynamic
status bar, Priority Mode, Battery Saving Mode, Android Smart Lock, multi-user,
Recent multi-tasking new window, Final Android Runtime (ART), Device Sharing
capabilities like screen pinning and guest user, new Quick Settings toggles,
OpenGL ES 3.1, and tons of other great new things.
Android 5.0
Lollipop LRX21T Factory Image build is dated October 21 and it measures 471MB.
It can be installed on your Nexus 4 without wiping data only in case your
smartphone currently runs on stock Android and, if you tweak the installation
.bat file. Nexus 4 devices running on custom ROMs will be wiped in the process
and you will lose all data that’s stored on its internal memory.
If you don’t
want to update your N4 smartphone with Android 5.0 Factory Image, then you can
choose to wait until the official Android 5.0 OTA Update rolls out in your region.
If you’re a beginner and you don’t know your way around factory image files or
you’ve never booted your device in Fastboot / Bootloader Mode, then it would be
best not to try to install Android 5.0 factory image manually.
