LG G3 Lollipop Update Android 5.0 Likely to Come This Week

LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update was anticipated to be released early because of how competitive other OEMs have been a lately, but who would had thought the LG flagship would end up becoming world’s first device to receive it. LG has recently published an official press release telling the entire Android community that they will be the first OEM to release Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, the press release says the update will hit Poland ‘this week’ and that will be ‘followed by other key markets in the near future’.
LG confirms Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG G3
This past weekend we saw LG releasing an official press release about their Android 5.0 Lollipop update plans for the near future. Their press release implies that LG is going to be the first OEM to release the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. As we’ve now discovered, this is great news for anyone who lives in Poland because that’s the country that will benefit from this. The initial update doesn’t include the UK, the US, South Korea, or any of the other major markets across the world. It’s fair to see LG using a small region as a sort of test bed for their upcoming release of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the LG G3, it just has me worried about when we’ll see the update in those larger markets.
We will most likely see Motorola and Google being ‘first’ when it comes to releasing Android 5.0 Lollipop in the United States. However, this does start to put some pressure on the other OEMs in the Android industry. LG was dead last when it came to releasing the Android 4.4 KitKat update last year. This year, it’s like the Android OEMs are trying to win a race for who can release the update the fastest. This makes me wonder why this is happening this time around. Could Google be incentivizing smartphone manufacturers with some sort of reward?

Either way, this could be great news for anyone that likes to flash custom ROMs onto their LG G3. There isn’t a wide selection of them out but we have seen a lot of modified LG stock ROMs. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw this update modified and released for all other variants of the LG G3 by the end of next weekend.
