Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Now Rolling out at Verizon

Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 owners, we have great news for you! The carrier has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now being pushed to users.
Verizon is the first US-based carrier to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 which is a bit odd, given that Big Red is known to be a bit behind the curve when it comes to software updates. As usual, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is being rolled out in phases, which means that some of you would have to wait longer than others before being able to download and install the new update.
After your smartphone becomes eligible to receive the new software, you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, choose ‘Download now’, wait until the download is completed, then select ‘Install now.’ Your smartphone should reboot and install the new firmware. In case the system update notification failed to show up, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > General > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. Alternatively, you can grab the USB, connect your terminal to the PC, and check for the update via KIES.
According to Verizon’s support PDF, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop has software version VRU1BNLC. Of course, the update brings Material design with fluid animations and 3D effects and shadows, bolder colors and new toggle button style, along with lock screen improvements such as Phone and Camera shortcuts, lock screen notifications, the ability to set priority and privacy level for notifications on lockscreen, and TouchWiz tweaks. The new software update also introduces the document-centric recent menu, and the new Interruptions mode.
