If you live
in Canada and happen to have a HTC One M8 nearby, then we are recommending you
to keep an eye on the notifications panel. Why? Because the HTC One M8 Android
5.0 Lollipop update is now being pushed to the Canadian owners of the device.
The
announcement was made yesterday by HTC’s Mo Versi. He tweeted that the company received technical approval from Rogers regarding
the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC One M8 and that the roll out will
start soon.
Back in
November 2014, when Google made the Android 5.0 source code available for
download, HTC promised to deliver the One M8 and One M7 Lollipop update within
90 days. After One M8 already got the update in several countries, now it’s
time for the Canada-based owners to enjoy it.
As usual, the
HTC One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is being rolled out in phases. This
means that it will not hit all terminals in the same time. You probably know
already that as soon as your One M8 unit is ready to receive the new firmware,
you should get a system update notification. Just tap on it and follow the
on-screen instructions. You can also check for the update manually under
Settings > General > About phone > Software updates > Check for
software updates.
The Android
5.0 update for HTC One M8 arrives with Lollipop-specific goodies such as
Material Design interface, multi-user support for phones, revamped notifications
bar and quick settings, better battery statistics, Android Runtime (ART), lock
screen notifications, card-based interface for recent, dynamic status bar,
Smart Lock, and more. The update will also bring interface tweaks to HTC’s
Sense 6.0.
Since the HTC
One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop update could have a size of over 500 MB we are
recommending you to download the update file using a stable Wi-Fi network. You
know, just to avoid unwanted data charges.
