The South
Korean phone maker has already released the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop in
select countries and today they added a new one to the list. The unlocked
LG G3 units located in Canada are not getting upgraded with the latest
available Android firmware.
The Android
5.0 Lollipop update for LG G3 arrives with a plethora of changes and
improvements which are aimed to both improve the UI and the overall system
performance. What should you expect from the new update? I’m glad you’ve asked.
According to the changelog posted by LG, the new firmware brings a bold
and colorful interface, new notification options, improved battery life,
security enhancements, and automatic device encryption. Lollipop for LG G3 also
arrives with support for multiple device users, a revamped quick settings
drop-down menu, better Internet and Bluetooth handling, and Voice activation
when screen is off. It’s also worth mentioning that after you install the new
update, the obsolete Dalvik will be replaced by Android Runtime and that your
phone will have support for lock screen notifications.
Just like any
other software update, the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is being pushed to
users in phases. This means that some of you might have to wait a few more
days or even weeks. I remind you that as soon as your G3 is ready to receive
the Lollipop OTA update, you should see a system update message in the
notifications bar. Tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions. We are also
recommending you to perform a manual check under Settings > About Device
> Software update > Check now. Also, given the size of the update file,
remember to connect to a Wi-Fi network before downloading it.
