Samsung
Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 Update Now Live at T-Mobile
T-Mobile officially revealed that a new Samsung
Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 update is now being pushed to users. Therefore, if
you happen to own T-Mo’s Note 3 variant you should keep an eye on the
notifications bar.
T-Mobile’s support page reveals that the new Android
4.4.2 OTA update for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has software
version N900TUVUDNF9. The same page also notes that the new firmware
introduces T-Mobile Free Inflight Texting. Because the previous Android
4.4.x Galaxy Note 3 updates patched KitKat-specific goodies (new Location menu,
immersive mode, cloud printing, full screen album and movie art, white status
bar icons, transparent status and nav bars, color emoji support, and more)
along with updated Samsung native apps, the latest firmware update only
arrives with minor changes and bug fixes.
Even
though the N900TUVUDNF9 OTA update rolled out began September
10, the roll out is made in phases, so certain users might
not be able to download and install the new firmware right away. As you may
know, once your Note 3 becomes eligible to receive the new update you
should be able to see a system update message in the notifications bar.
Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. If the system update notification
failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under
Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for software
updates. Alternatively, you can grab the USB cable, connect your Note 3 to the
PC, then search for the update via KIES.
T-Mobile also
says that, in order to be able to install the new update, your smartphone must
run N900TUVUDNF4. In order to check your current software version go to
Settings > More > System manager > About device. The new software update
has a size of 78 MB.
