LG G Pad 7.0 LTE and G Pad 10.1 LTE Join Verizon’s Line-up

The holiday season is right around the corner, so the shopping fever will soon begin. If you were planning to buy a gift for your loved ones or just to get your hands on a new tablet, Verizon believes they have exactly what you need. The Big Red carrier officially announced a couple of days ago that two new tablets are now joining their line-up: the LG G Pad 7.0 LTE and the LG G Pad 10.1 LTE.

Both tablets are compatible with Verizon’s LTE network and both come with similar technical specifications. The LG G Pad 7.0 LTE features a 7.0-inch IPS LCD display with 1280 x 800 resolutions and a Snapdragon 400 CPU at 1.2 GHz, while packing 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of microSD-expandable storage, 5 MP primary camera, 1.3 MP secondary camera, and a 4,000 mAh battery. As you might have guessed already, the LG G Pad 10.1 LTE brings a bigger 10.1-inch display. It has IPS LCD technology and a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels, while the processing tasks are handled by the same quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU. Just like its little brother, G Pad 10.1 LTE brings 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB storage, microSD (up to 64 GB), 5 MP rear-facing shooter, and 2 MP camera for video calls. The battery is a Li-Ion 8,000 mAh unit.

Both the G Pad 7.0 and the G Pad 10.1 are running Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, of course customized with LG’s proprietary skin. You will get to enjoy the Q Pair app which allows you to receive notifications on your tablet from any smartphone running Android 4.1 or higher and if when you use Verizon Messages, you will be able send and receive texts from your tablet even though you left your paired phone at home. The two tablets also bring LG’s new Smart Keyboard that debuted earlier this year on the G3.

Verizon is selling the LG G Pad 7.0 LTE at a price of $249.99. Anyway, if you agree to activate a new line for two years, you will be able to get your hands on the 7-inch tablet for only $49.99. The G Pad 10.1 LTE is a bit more price: its $299.99 no-strings attached, or $199.99 with a new two-year plan.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Pre-Orders Start at Optus

It’s only been a short time since Samsung made its Galaxy Note Edge public, intriguing customers. Furthermore, it seems that the next flagship will take inspiration from the Galaxy Note and incorporate a dual curve display. Costco is opening up pre-orders for the Note Edge, which is great news for those who want to buy one.

Samsung aimed at November 3rd as a release date for their Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, but that didn’t work out due to the stocks being unprepared for the demand. They further delayed the device until November 25th, and Optus pleasantly surprised us by putting the phone up for pre-order. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is a very unique device, which features a curved display. It quickly became controversial as soon as it was announced, because no other phone ever featured such a display. Left-handed users showed skepticism and accused the device of being impractical, but that may change in the future, as Samsung has bigger plans for this sort of design.

The Note Edge is currently priced at $71 per month ($35 My Plan Plus + $36 handset repayment), and this plan includes up to 300 minutes of phone calls, 500MB of monthly data, and unlimited text messages. There are of course other plans, like $81 per month, featuring up to 600 minutes, 1GB of monthly data, and unlimited texts. There’s a third option of $89, with unlimited minutes, 2.5GB of monthly data, and unlimited texts. You’ve got a very wide array of choices if you’re planning on pre-ordering the Note Edge on contract, and you can either wait until Black Friday to get a good deal (hopefully) on the device, or you can go straight ahead, strike a contract, and get the phone as soon as it is officially released.

Samsung Preparing 3 New A-Series Galaxy Smartphones, A300 Specs Leak on GFXBench

Samsung announced its first metal built Galaxy device last month – Galaxy Alpha. The device offers a premium build and a slightly more appealing overall design compared to the other Galaxy smartphones. It was aimed primarily at taking on the Apple iPhone 6 and offers comparable specifications to the latest Apple iPhone. Now Samsung is planning to expand the Alpha family of devices with three new models under development. All three are said to feature similar design and premium metal body as the Galaxy Alpha. The model numbers of the three devices are: SM-A300, SM-A500 and SM-A700. The lowest end model, A300’s specs seem to have been leaked via the GFXBench app.

The leaked details point to a 4.8” display with 960 x 540 qHD resolution display (perhaps S-AMOLED), Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with Quad-Core 1.2GHz CPU and Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 5MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording and Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system. These specs are pretty decent and could mean Samsung is looking to position this one as a premium mid-range handset. This is also the first time that Samsung would be using a 64-bit compatible Qualcomm Snapdragon chip.

According to SamMobile, the A300 as well as the other two models are expected to be released by the end of the month. It does seem like a good idea for Samsung to offer premium built smartphones at different price points with these three A-series Galaxy devices. The A300 itself sounds like a very promising phone and the 5MP front-camera will certainly appeal to the youth and everyone else who is crazy about taking Selfie on their smartphones all day. The other two devices still remain a mystery at this point but we expect to learn more about them in the coming days.
