Samsung Galaxy S4 KitKat Update Android 4.4.2 OTA for AT&T in USA
It’s a good day for owners of the AT&T Samsung
Galaxy S4 because the device is ready to receive an OTA update to Android
4.4.2 KitKat, which prepares it for the
long-anticipated Android L release. There’s also supposed to be one more update
(Android 4.4.4), but that’s not likely to
happen anytime soon considering Android L is very close to its release, and
that’s Google’s priority right now. The news was very well received among
Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T users because the Android
4.4.2 KitKat
update brings a lot of bug fixes, performance enhancements
and battery improvements, resolving many issues from the previous iteration of
the OS.
AT&T rolls out Android 4.4.2
KitKat update for Galaxy S4
If you own an AT&T carrier version of the
Samsung Galaxy S4, then you should have been prompted to update by now, but if
you haven’t, you can check for any available software update in
Settings -> About -> Check for Software Updates. Always make sure you’re connected
to a Wi-Fi network before you update, and always make sure you have plenty of
internal memory before you update your operating system, because downloading
the update can eat up your whole monthly data plan, and it can also fill your
storage with lots of files. The update is between 121MB and 927MB; the
difference comes from the fact that users running Android 4.4 will
have to install the first 4.4.2 firmware along with this update.
We’re
curious to see if the Samsung Galaxy S4 will update to Android L after it’s
released. Currently, we know that Nexus devices are the first ones to get the
update, followed by either HTC or Samsung devices.
