Sprint Drops Nexus 6 price to $249, Customers Who Ordered One Get Refund

Nexus 6 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated smartphones of the second half of the year and the latest and greatest Nexus flagship is already available for purchase at several US retailers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. The latter one has dropped the Nexus 6 price to $249 on-contract.

When the 32 GB Nexus 6 debuted at Sprint, it was made available at a price of $299 with a two-year agreement with the carrier. Now Sprint has cut-off the Nexus 6 price to $249, making it $50 cheaper than the AT&T variant. The even better news is that the customers who already bought the Nexus 6 between November 14 and November 18 will get a $50 refund. The fee will be added as cred on their bill. Of course, you can still purchase the handset contract-free at a price of $648, or you can opt for Sprint’s 24 Easy Pay program for $0 down and 24 monthly fees of $27 each.

I remind you that Nexus 6 is currently one of the most powerful smartphones on the market. It boasts about a 6-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution and 493 ppi pixel density, while being underpinned by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC with quad-core 2.7 GHz Krati 450 CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. The terminal also arrives with 3 GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of non-expandable internal storage, and all the connectivity features worthy of a modern smartphone including LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and microUSB 2.0. On the back there’s a 13 MP primary shooter with optical image stabilization dual-LED ring flash, and 4K video recording support, while the front panel accommodates a 2 MP Selfie camera. Nexus 6 is kept alive by a 3,220 mAh battery that’s compatible with Motorola’s Turbo charger which promises up to 8 hours of autonomy after only 15 minutes of charging.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2: US Availability, Pricing & Tech Specs

AT&T recently announced that Samsung’s Galaxy Mega 2 device will hit their stores on October 24th. The Galaxy Mega series is a mid-range set of devices aimed at entry-level tech enthusiasts on a low budget, looking to buy a phablet.

AT&T also revealed pricing details for the device. It’s currently set at $19.80 a month for 18 months, $23.75 a month for 12 months, or $149.99 for a two-year contract. Obviously, there’s also a no-strings-attached option of $474.99.

This release is not surprising as AT&T currently offers the largest selection of Samsung devices, usually being the first to release the tech giant’s flagships. Most of the time, the carrier also has a decent selection of deals for these devices when new releases come up, and with November approaching, that may be the case pretty soon.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 tech specs

Galaxy Mega 2 sports mid-range specifications. It comes with a 6-inch 720 x 1280 pixel display, 1.5GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of native storage, expandable using an external microSD card up to 128GB, an 8MP rear camera alongside a 2.1MP secondary shooter, and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Overall, it’s not a top-notch device, but it’s actually pretty decent. The downside to this device is that there are better phones available for the same price, so some tech enthusiasts are skeptical about purchasing it.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha has finally been released on AT&T for the mere price of $199.00 on contract, which is an absolute steal for this device, all things considered. The American carrier started selling the device on September 26th. If you don’t want a contract, you can buy an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Alpha for $612.99.

AT&T Galaxy Alpha comes in three color variants

The device comes in three color varieties (black, white, gold) and has a very slick metal frame. Putting the casing aside, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has some fantastic tech specifications for such a low-priced phone. It sports a 4.7-inch 720p display, an octa-core Exynos 5430 CPU, a 12MP camera, and a relatively small 1860mAh battery which may not last you as long as you want, but with some tweaks and adjustments to your handset, you can definitely get it through the whole day without charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is a modest phone in terms of size, being smaller than the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and being a great alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S6. Many customers have already shown huge interest in the enigmatic Alpha, and it’s only been a month for the tech company considering their releases at the IFA and their surprises.

Apple’s new iPhone 6 series starts at just $199, but those buying the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus off-contract will have to pony up a lot more. As usual, Apple is advertising carrier-subsidized prices as it rolls out its new iPhones. But only those eligible for new two-year contracts will be able to actually buy their phones at those prices. Everyone else needs to pad their iPhone budgets by $450.

Most wireless carriers in the United States offer full phone subsidies every two years, with others are offering partial subsidies after just 12 months. To further complicate matters, carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T  are shifting the cost of new devices to customers in exchange for more affordable monthly plans. That means there are going to be more people buying the iPhone 6 off contract in the United States than with previous iPhone launches. Some consumers will be surprised at just how expensive an off-contract iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus will be.

As Apple and all of its partners will hammer into your head, the iPhone 6 starts at $199. That’s for the base 16GB model with the 4.7″ display. Add on the $450 that the carriers normally pay and the full price is $649. The 64GB model will cost $749 and the 128GB model will cost $849 without a subsidy.  The iPhone 6 Plus has an enormous 5.5″ display and carriers a $100 premium. That means the iPhone 6 16GB model will cost $749, the 64GB will be $849 and the 128GB version will cost $949.

For the first time there will be an iPhone that actually costs more than one of Apple’s MacBooks. The basic version of the 11″ MacBook Air retails for just $899.

There are plenty of reasons to buy phones off-contract. Frequent upgraders and those who don’t want to be married to a carrier’s contract are two prime examples.

Just because the off-contract iPhone 6 Plus will cost up to $949 doesn’t mean you will have to plunk down that much cash all at once.  AT&T Next, is one example of a program that allows customers to buy a new iPhone 6 with $0 down and without a two-year contract. The cost of the iPhone 6 is broken up into 20 or 24 monthly installments customers are allowed to upgrade after 12 or 18 months rather than the traditional 24 months. Should they decide to upgrade prior to paying off their phones completely, they’re not on the hook for the remaining payments. While the customer is on contract for the device, they are not tied to the wireless service for the traditional two years.

We’ve already seen some iPhone 6 deals, including a free iPhone 6 offer from Verizon. With 10 days to go before the iPhone 6 goes on sale, we’re sure we’ll see many more deals and schemes to reduce the upfront cost of the iPhone 6.
