After Huawei
announced that the KitKat update will not be released for the Ascend Mate 2,
many owners feared that their smartphone will be stuck on Jelly Bean
forever. The China-based phone maker returns with great
news for the Ascend Mate 2 owners: the handset will get updated to Android 5.0
Lollipop.
In other
words, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 will make the jump directly from Android 4.3
Jelly Bean to Android 5.0 Lollipop. As you may know already, Lollipop is the
biggest update Android has received so far so the Ascend Mate 2 users will be
able to enjoy tons of new features and improvements. Android 5.0 arrives with
tweaked notifications bar and quick settings, multi-user support for phones,
dynamic status bar, lock screen notifications, better battery stats, battery
saver mode, Priority calls, Screen Pinning, Material Design, and lots more.
Huawei also
revealed that Ascend Mate 2 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be pushed to users
in the first half of next year. As usual, the roll out will be made gradually,
which means that some users might have to wait longer than others.
After the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Huwaei Ascend Mate 2 is issued
you will receive a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on
it then follow the on-screen instructions. In case the system update
notification failed to appear you would also want to perform a manual check.
I remind you
that Huawei Ascend Mate 2 has a pretty decent hardware
platform and the announcement that it won’t receive KitKat took many
by surprise. The massive terminal was officially introduced to the public in
January 2014 and released on the market later the same month.
Ascend Mate 2
boasts about a 6.1-inch IPS + LCD display with HD (720 x 1280) resolution, 241
ppi, and Gorilla Glass protection, while being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon
400 chipset with four Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.6 GHz and an Adreno 305 GPU.
The device also integrates 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD slot
(up to 64 GB supported), and a 4,050 mAh battery. It arrives with a 13 MP
primary camera with autofocus LED flash and Full HD video recording, a 5 MP
user-facing camera, and all the connectivity features worthy of a modern
smartphone including LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, and microUSB
2.0.
