HTC One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Now Available for Rogers and Telus Variants

Yesterday, we told you that HTC’s Mo Versi confirmed on Twitter that the One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is ready to roll out for the Canadian owners of the device. Now we have the official confirmation from HTC Canada that the HTC One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is being pushed to the Rogers and Telus users.

Since Lollipop is the most major update Google’s mobile operating system has received to date, I am sure that all One M8 owners were eagerly anticipating its roll out. Besides the Android 5.0-specific goodies such as lock screen notifications, better battery statistics, multi-user support for phones, revamped notifications bar and quick settings, card-based recent menu, Smart Lock, Screen Pinning, or dynamic status bar, the new firmware also arrives with Sense interface tweaks. HTC’s custom skin was redesigned to match the Material Design guidelines.

The HTC One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is being pushed to users over-the-air. As usual, we are dealing with a staged roll out, which means that some users will have to wait longer than others before being able to download and install the update. When the Android 5.0 Lollipop will become available for your One M8 terminal you should receive a system update notification. In case you purchased your Moto X 2014 from Telus you should keep an eye on the notifications panel. Redditors on r/MotoX are reporting that the Moto X 2014 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is now available for download for the Telus variant of the smartphone.

As usual, the Telus Moto X 2014 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is being rolled out in phases, which means that some of you might not be able to grab it right away. Once your device becomes eligible to receive the new firmware, you should be able to see a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, hit ‘Download now’, wait until the download is completed, then choose ‘Install now’. Your smartphone should reboot and install the new firmware. Sony Xperia Z3 Canada Release Confirmed, US Release Likely For Next Week

Sony Xperia Z3 is coming to all Canadian carriers starting October 31st, which is exciting news for fans who are lining up already. The tech magnate is set to hold a press conference in New York on October 9th, where they will likely discuss bringing the Xperia Z3 to the U.S.

The New York press conference is still shrouded in mystery, but as speculations go, it’s very likely the main subject will be the launch of Sony’s Xperia Z3 in Canada and the U.S. According to MobileSyrup, Sony’s Xperia Z3 is going to be launched at Bell, MTS, Rogers, SaskTel, TELUS, and Wind Mobile on the aforementioned date, as well as all Sony stores.

The news came as a bit of a surprise to most media outlets, because it’s been two years since the Japanese company launched another device on so many Canadian carriers. For those that don’t know, this happened for the Xperia T in 2012. Could this mean Sony has a more aggressive release strategy for the North American release? We’re not sure, but this is a good hint.
