Sprint has
started to roll out the official Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Update for their
Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. This update is rolled out in phases and all
Sprint Galaxy S5 users should be getting the new files before the end of this
month.
This is the
biggest upgrade that gets released for this device and it brings the brand new
Lollipop OS upgrade along with Material Design UI, improved TouchWiz interface,
new notifications control, intelligent notifications ranking, Priority Mode,
better graphics management, better Power Saving Mode, estimated discharge/
charge time display, improved Security, Android Smart Lock, Device Sharing new
features, Multiple users, new Quick Settings toggles, improved Bluetooth
technology, Android Runtime (ART) full version replaces the old Dalvik, and
many others. You will find more about this Android 5.0 and what it contains at
Samsung here.
The Samsung
support web page of Android 5.0 OTA Update for Sprint Galaxy S5 device tells us
that the Lumen tool bar removed completely while the Vo Wi-Fi UI has been
improved. Remember to use the Wi-Fi connection in order to complete the
installation of Android 5.0 G900PVPU1AOA6 Lollipop OTA update without going
over your mobile data plan.
This new
update by Sprint and Samsung is being released in phases, so you should expect
it to arrive before the end of this month for all the Galaxy S5 models. Note
that this official Android 5.o OTA Update is only being released for stock
Sprint Galaxy S5 phones, so you won’t be getting any official updates in case
you’ve installed any custom Android ROMs for your Galaxy S5.
If the
Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Update isn’t displayed by your phone’s notification
screen, then you should go to Settings> System Update and see if there are
any new firmware files available for download. If there are any updates
available you should simply confirm the installation and then your Sprint
Galaxy S5 smartphone will complete the whole process automatically.
