Google Nexus 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Update Rolling Out Now

Google has launched the official Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Update for the Nexus 4 smartphone. Starting from today and up until the last day of November all Nexus 4 users should be running the latest Android 5.0 firmware build.
The update is rolling out Over-the-Air (OTA) and it features the LRX21T build number updating your Nexus 4 to one of the best operating systems ever seen running on an Android device. It comes with a brand new interface called Material Design, lock screen notifications, Priority Mode, Battery saving mode, Android Smart Lock, device sharing, screen pinning, guest user support, multiple users menu, brand new Quick Settings toggles, final Android Runtime (ART), OpenGL ES 3.1, Improved Google Now, and more.
Android 5.0 Lollipop LRX21T OTA Update is rolling out in phases, which means that not all Nexus 4 users will get the new firmware at the same time. All Nexus 4 smartphones running Android stock ROMs will receive official update notifications, while those models running custom ROMs cannot be updated using the official update channels.
If the update arrives on your device, then you should simply confirm and then the installation process will be completed automatically. Alternatively you can choose to check yourself for new firmware files by going to Settings> scroll down and open About Phone, then tap on System Updates and then ‘Check Now’.

Nexus 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop Factory Image is Now Available for Download

Google has launched the official Android 5.0 Lollipop Factory Image for the Google Nexus 4 smartphone. This is huge news for N4 owners as they’re now able to install the latest Android OS version manually before the Lollipop 5.0 OTA Update roll out takes place later next week.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop Factory Image adds the latest OS firmware that was launched by Google and you can even install it without losing any data files in the process by modifying the ‘flash-all.bat’ file. You will find more info in the links provided at the end of this post.
Android 5.0 is the biggest OS updates released for the Google Nexus 4 smartphone, so you should give it a try. It comes with Material Design user interface, Notifications tweaks, lock screen notifications support, dynamic status bar, Priority Mode, Battery Saving Mode, Android Smart Lock, multi-user, Recent multi-tasking new window, Final Android Runtime (ART), Device Sharing capabilities like screen pinning and guest user, new Quick Settings toggles, OpenGL ES 3.1, and tons of other great new things.
Android 5.0 Lollipop LRX21T Factory Image build is dated October 21 and it measures 471MB. It can be installed on your Nexus 4 without wiping data only in case your smartphone currently runs on stock Android and, if you tweak the installation .bat file. Nexus 4 devices running on custom ROMs will be wiped in the process and you will lose all data that’s stored on its internal memory.
If you don’t want to update your N4 smartphone with Android 5.0 Factory Image, then you can choose to wait until the official Android 5.0 OTA Update rolls out in your region. If you’re a beginner and you don’t know your way around factory image files or you’ve never booted your device in Fastboot / Bootloader Mode, then it would be best not to try to install Android 5.0 factory image manually.
