Samsung has announced that the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 devices
should now be getting the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update OTA (Over-The-Air).
Waste no time and start checking your phone’s notification panel and see if
there are any new firmware files available for installation.
The
Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA Update for Galaxy S5 was announced over a month ago by
Sprint, but there weren’t any news confirming that the update has hit any
devices. Now, it seems like the G900PVPU1ANI4 KitKat 4.4.4 build is rolling out
for Sprint Galaxy S5 users.
This
build of Android 4.4.4 will probably be the final KitKat firmware, as Samsung and
Sprint will focus their attention to Android L 5.0 when
this new upgrade will be issued by Google later this year. Until then you
should install the new build if you’re on stock Android and see how is your
device working with it seeing that the new firmware adds better stability and a
faster Android performance.
Android
4.4.4 G900PVPU1ANI4 update comes with a new HD Voice icon, International
VoWiFi support and multiple Google security patches. Besides all these changes
your device and its UI will get several minor bug fixes. The new update files
are delivered via OTA and you should expect the notification to appear soon.
Note that Samsung is issuing the update in phases, so you might not get
the G900PVPU1ANI4 firmware update today and you don’t need to worry if it
doesn’t arrive, as it will eventually be released for all Stock Samsung Galaxy
S5 Sprint devices.
The
new firmware update will not be released to Sprint Galaxy S5 phones that are
currently sporting any custom ROMs or other major modifications. If the update
notifications doesn’t show up on your device and you don’t have any
modifications applied, then you should go to Settings> System Update>
Update menu. Use that menu in order to search for new firmware files and
confirm the download and installation processes, then allow your Galaxy S5
Sprint to complete the Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update automatically.
